If the weather does beat you, there always an alternative to the outdoors: a short drive away you will find one of Europe’s finest indoor climbing facilities, The Ice Factor that boasts one of the tallest indoor ice walls in Europe alongside various dry walls and an adventure park for the kids – even the big ones. We are also next door to the Lochaber Leisure Centre that includes a swimming pool (kids activities scheduled daily), fitness suite with daily classes, squash courts and health suite.
If golf is your sport, Fort William has its very own 18 hole golf course that nestles at the foot of Ben Nevis. A short drive away you will find the Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course, recently voted Scotland’s finest 9 hole golf course.
For all those winter lovers the Nevis Range Ski Resort and Glencoe Ski Centre are only a short drive, both of which offer varying levels of slopes. Full equipment hire and tuition for beginners can be organised.

Home to the World Downhill and Cross Country Championships, Nevis Range is everything you could want for some two wheel action. Don’t be put of by the large events, this is very much a facility for all abilities and includes trials over a vast area. You don’t even have to bring your bike with you as we have three highly professional shops in Fort William that can hire everything you will need.

Fishing
Fishing is a fantastic way to experience and take in the Highlands of Scotland, Lochaber is well known for its Brown Trout, Salmon and Rainbow Trout. If you’re a beginner and wish to learn how to fly fish, “Learn Fly Fishing” is an excellent place to start, providing tuition and equipment for to full day excursions on private lochs for the experienced Angler.
Torlundy Fishery can offer you a more controlled day with high chances of success with three stocked lochs –Rainbow Trout – and tuition and rod hire if required.
The Brown Trout season begins from the 15th March and ends on the 6th October, whereas the Salmon & Rainbow Trout seasons vary depending on the location.
