Fire Precautions

If the building needs to be evacuated in the case of an emergency, a continuous siren will sound. Please leave the building by the nearest Fire Exit.

If you have any physical disability or have difficulty in hearing the alarm, please make reception aware of this upon arrival.

Smoking Policy

The entire hotel is non- smoking area following the Act of Parliament of March 2006.

Anyone breaching this law is liable of a fine of £50 rising to £2000 for repeat infringement. If guests are found to have been smoking in their bedrooms a deep cleaning fee of £150 will be charged to their account.

E-cigs and vapes can only be smoked outside the hotel, due our VERY sensitive smoke alarms.

Reception

Reception is manned 24hours, Full reception service – such as reservations and payment – is only available from 0700hrs – 2300hrs. Payments of accounts can only be made during these times, as the night porter doesn’t have access to the hotel safe. It is advisable to settle accounts the night before if are departing before 0700hrs.

Assistance with luggage can be arranged with reception. Messages can be collected from reception if they are any messages received whilst you are out, they are normally be placed in your room prior to your return.

Key Cards

Your room is a magnetically striped key card (plastic). This provides a high degree of security for both the hotel and our guest. On check in a different code is imprinted on the key card together with the duration of your stay. If you require to extend your stay your key card will need reprogramming.

With the key cards having a magnetic strip for programming please try keep your card away from mobile phones as this will deprogram your card.

If this does happen don’t panic, we can reprogram it at reception for you.

Alarm Calls

If you require an alarm, call in the morning contact reception by dialling “0” on the telephone and let them know what time you would like your wake-up call.

Room Charging

Meals and drinks taken in browns restaurant & bar can be charged to your accommodation account for payment on departure. All prices are inclusive of VAT. Accounts will only be posted on with prior arrangement.

Day of Departure

We ask that you vacate your room by 1000hrs. If you plan to depart before 0700, please settle your account before retiring for the evening.

Please remember to leave your key card.

In Your Room

You will find an electric kettle and espresso machine.

In the drawer below the kettle and espresso machine you will find a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and decaf products. If you prefer fresh milk, please contact reception (by dialling 0).

In the cabinet below you will find an electronic safe and mini fridge.

You will find the hair dryer in a protective bag with attachments in the wardrobe.

Television

We are able to offer you all the digital channels that are available within

Fort William. We would respectfully ask the volume levels especially after 2300hrs are kept at a reasonable level for comfort of adjacent residents.

Toiletries

If you have forgotten any of your toiletries, there is a small supply of toothbrushes and toothpaste at reception.

Please do not remove any of the toiletries from the bathroom as there will be a £5 per bottle charge if done so.

Sewing kits are also available from reception.

Browns Restaurant & Bar

Our menu focuses on freshly prepared classic and contemporary dishes but also features old favourites including an excellent range of pasta, sea food and meats all served between 12.00hrs – 1430hrs and 17.30hrs – 2130hrs

If you would like to have an evening meal in our restaurant, please pre book your table to avoid disappointment.

Our bar offers something for every taste serving everything from a glass of prosecco, excellent quality wines, tempting cocktails to fine whisky and real ale. Open between 12pm – 1am Monday to Sunday.

Breakfast

Full cooked Scottish Breakfasts are available in the restaurant between 0730hrs & 0930hrs. If you require breakfast earlier than 0730hrs, please inform reception before retiring for the evening. We will have our night porter serve a continental breakfast for you in our restaurant.

Packed Lunches

If you have a long journey or are heading up Ben Nevis for the day our chef will be happy to make you a packed lunch. Please make your request with reception where you can pick up an order form. 

Room Service

Room Service is available during service hours. The restaurant menu is available from 1200hrs-14.30hrs and 1730hrs-2100hrsm you can make your selection from the menu provided in this folder. 

Please be aware that room service has a £5 tray charge.

As all our dishes are prepared to order please allow at least 30mins for the chefs to prepare your meal.

Heating

In accordance with the Scottish climate each bedroom is equipped with guest-controlled air conditioning. This unit has been calibrated to offer effective heating and cooling even in the best and worst of Scottish weather. The heating in your room is adjustable using the controls located on the wall mounted touch screen panel. If you are unsure how to work the air conditioning, please contact reception.

Electrical Supply

Your key card is also a power card. Insert your key card into the box by your bedroom door with the blue light; this will turn the electrical supply on. Remember to remove the card as you leave your room. Any electrical items plugged in and turned on; including any lights will turn off after a short period. If you wish to leave anything charging in your room while you are out, please ask reception for a second card.

All electrical sockets in the hotel are 3 pin 240 volts. Visitors from overseas should not attempt to use their own devices without an approved adaptor.

We have adaptors for plugs available from reception, but please remember that it is a 240-volt supply. A charge of £5 will be added to your bill and removed when the adaptor has been returned.

Windows

Please note as a safety feature our windows have a safety latch on them. The Windows will only open a short distance unrestricted. We have two different style of windows here, please follow these instructions to open/close your window.

Low Opening – There is a push button on the inside of the frame about halfway up on the left-hand side.
High Opening – There is a Bar along the top of the Window, gently pull towards you to open. Push back toward the frame to close.

Bath & Shower Mats / Iron & Ironing Board

If you require these items, please contact reception who will be happy to provide.

Bedding

For added luxury some our beds have feather duvets, if you have an allergy to feathers, we will happily change your duvet to one that will not affect your health. If you require more pillows, we store two additional ones in the wardrobe.

Writing Facilities

Paper and envelopes are available from reception. We will happily mail any postcards & letters for you.

Photocopying

A photocopying service is available at reception at a cost of 20p per page.

Glen Nevis

Walks, Ben Nevis Mountain footpath, heritage centre, Steall waterfall & cow hill walks, Glen Nevis is also the area where the famous Mel Gibson film Braveheart was made.

Commando Exhibition & Monument

Located in Spean Bridge, home of the first Green Berets.

Glenfinnan Visitor Centre & Monument

Makes the spot where prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie prince Charlie) raised his standard at the beginning of the 1745 Jacobite raising. Also you will find the “Viaduct” that was in the harry potter films.

Established in 1825 by long John McDonald who Long John blended whisky is named after.
